John Beatty
Some news - not the best, though. A good friend & last years Snowman Head judge Timm Luhrsen was diagnosed Christmas eve with Leukemia. Timm will spend 30 days in a reverse pressure room (to reduce the chances of infection, as his immune system will take a tremendous beating) undergoing a heavy round of chemotherapy, then home for 2 weeks, then another 30 days in chemo at the hospital. As an even tougher hit for Timm, he had recently started a new job at the University of Illinois & has not finished his probationary period, so he's not fully into his insurance yet. His insurance runs out the end of Jan & he's looking at tens of thousands of dollars in hospital bills & not having an income for 3 months. Obviously Timm & his wife will be under a tremendous amount of financial, physical & emotional stress. The plus side, Timm's doctors give him a good chance of surviving as he's young & strong. He possibly won't even need a bone marrow transplant after chemo. To help - the Snowman has now become a benefit meet for Timm. We will be donating half the gate (it might be more, but we have to cover the rest of the prize $ first) & $ from the sale of every Fat Bastard Tshirt sold at the show to Timm to assist him. There will also be a raffle with whatever we can get together - so far a 3 month gym membership, a gym bag & some T's. I'll be going around tomorrow to hit up as meny businesses as possible. If you plan to come to the Snowman, please consider bringing an extra $5 to throw in for Timm. Thanks- John Beatty
