Sybersnott
Some things I've noticed about the list. Some observations: So far, 84 guys have officially become a COC. I come in at number 66. The Holle brothers have five positions, that being Nathan, Craig, Gavin, Jay and Kayne. The only year there was no certified COC was 1993. Before 1997, there were only seven guys who certified. 2001 was a banner year for COC's; more guys qualified that year than any other (26). MIA from the list: Tom Black, Mark Henry (I heard he can close the #3 with either hand), Bill Kazmaier, Dennis Rogers, Slim "The Hammerman" Farnam, and surprisingly Bert Sorin (I know he did close it). I'm sure there are a bunch of guys I haven't mentioned that should be on the list but aren't. Also, no woman has officially closed the #3. Did anyone else notice anything about the list that I forgot?? :huh
Nathan Say
Well I'm not on the list yet but that's no mistake. I bet there are >50 guys who can close a #3 (or do it with minimal training) but aren't certified.
Tou
I'm not certified yet but I closed my #3 twice this evening. 7 seconds and 4 seconds. Hope I can do the list in the first 100.
Guest Mikael Siversson
Five people closed a #3 in competition (LGC VI) yesterday (three did it with both hands). I am the only certified of these.
James Anacleto
I'm not on the list yet Why is it that no woman has officially closed the #3? James Edited December 9, 2002 by James Anacleto
The Gripster
Probably because there is no woman that can close one. If they have or have access to a CoC #3, then I'm sure they know about the certification procedure. I'm almost positive that they would get certified. supersqueeze
I think that The Grip Board is directly responsible for the rapid increase in the number of people certified during the last couple years. The easy access to training information and practical experience available here is the surest way to remain motivated and keep moving in the right direction. mike m. I agree it was definitely a contributing factor in my training! Throw a bunch of guys and gals in a room to compare training notes and experiences...pretty powerful if you ask me. Sybersnott
The GripBoard has been definitely responsible for me becoming a COC. It was through this board I was able to go to the AOBS, meet Steve, get inspired, and train hard to close the #3.
