Rick Walker
Someone asked last week how one trains with the weight of the world on their shoulder. Meaning-when everything is going worng, how do you stay focused. Classic example today. I decided to get up this morning and go in search of the mighty white tailed buck. I knew when the alarm went off at 4:45 that I should have stayed in bed. First it was -2. My hands and feet were popsicals in about 30 minutes. Then-I got hungry and already carrying enough gear to go on a safari, I didnt have any room for anything but peanut butter sandwiches which fill me up for about 5 minutes. Then, as I was stomping through pine trees so thick I couldnt see 5 feet ahead of me while my father in law and his old buddies waited on the other side to shoot anyting that came at them, I happened upon a huge pile of dung. A few more steps, another pile-this one was steaming still. A few more step and the largest bore black bear I have ever seen erupted from the brush ahead of me. Thank God he was headed away from me cause my .30-.30 probably wouldn't have stopped him from enjoying a cold Rick for his breakfast! I then decided to head to the safety and warmth of my house. I walked in and noticed that the back porch door was steamed over. I just figured the wife turned the dryer on before she left for work, but I decided to open the door anyway and check the situation. What did I discover? The hot water hose on the washer had cracked and was spraying everywhere. The floor was atleast 3 inches deep in water, everyones shoes and coats were drenched, 3 baskets of clean clothes were drenched, the carpet was ruined, my leather Harley boots and leather cowboy boots were drenched, the elertrical sockets were drenched-everything from floor to ceiling in 360 degrees was wet. What did I do?? Well, I shut off the water. I then cooked some fish and some potatoes. I ate. Called the wife and said the porch is flooded. Then went out to the garage and had an awesome grip workout. Didnt clean up a thing until I was done training. Messes cleanup-One bad day of training doesnt! If that don't do it nothing will!

Rick Walker
sybersnot- I am not exactly sure how to interpret your comment. Should I be a bit worried that you have a fetish for mens cowboy boots or should I want to stomp a mud hole in you with them for being a sarcastic prick? Or-was it all in good fun? Terminator- Yes-somehow I kept my cool. I guess I figured there wasnt much I could do. He was either going to eat me or run from me. He picked the right choice cause I woulda whooped his candy a$$! Adam Black
Someone asked last week how one trains with the weight of the world on their shoulder. Meaning-when everything is going worng, how do you stay focused. I can't say I like it when things don't go well. But I always get a small smile inside because I know that I will turn all that bad blood into aggression and will unleash in my next session. Some of my best sessions usually occur after a bad day. Sybersnott
Rick, I've never had a day in my life like the one you describe! I am of course, just kidding... please don't read anything into it. If you can go through all of that and still have time to grip train, more power to ya!
Nathan Say
Nothing gets my mind off other stuff like training. If anything, bad stuff happening makes me have better workouts.
