Wrist Push-up

Found this over at the gymasticbodies.com site. I tried it and was able to do an extremely ugly rep on my knees. If you can, progress to the next level which is starting with the back of your hands on the floor in the up position. Seems like a great way to work on wrist strength and flexibility. Its really easy if you stay on the knuckles, but man, when you roll onto the back of the hand watch out.

That looks pretty tough. Actually, I've done 20 reps on the backs of my hands...my brother and I used to practice these (using a blanket for padding at first) after we saw some knucklehead in the Guinness Book of World Records doing them. The last bit of rolling up onto the knuckles looks like the hardest part in this video.

I saw that when it was first posted there. I can do them from the bottom up but going down and flipping to the backs of my hands feels super wierd and I always fall down :laugh

I can do that part for a couple of ugly reps on my knees but my wrists always snap, crackle, and pop on every rep. They feel pretty good afterwards, seem like a good way to stretch out your wrists because mine feel really loose after.

My wrists don't do that - period. They won't even bend that far that way. Shows I probably should work on it but for what?

These actually aren't that hard if you commit, do it fast, and get the timing right. Works your wrist extensors.

My wrists don't even bend that far. I think I'd hurt my wrists doing that.

Hapkido guys do these push ups to bear the pain that comes from wrist locks.

You can do knee push ups first if you are interested and progress to regular ones - but I dont think that there are benefits of these push ups.
