ruffhans
I am thinking about doing my workouts with thick handled bars and dumbells. i need to know a few things first. would it be ok to workout my whlole body useing thick handled bars? or is that to much? should i only use thick bars for one, or two excersises? if i work biceps on monday, triceps on tuesday, shoulders on wed. ext. ext. would this be to much on the hands. or should i do whole body workouts, so my grip could rest also? well, what are ya doing just sitten there? i need some answers! Guest Harlan Jacobs
I personaly feel doing a thick bar for your whole body, ( at least in my case ) would not allow me to do enough weight on some exersises. I only done reverse grip deads and reverse curls with a thick bar. I have done pressing movments and nothing extra out of it. As far as back goes, bent over rows would be really afected and so would bi's. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
Guest mg6680
I'd suggest slowly implementing thick bar work into your normal routine. I didn't and had negative results (elbow soreness). I've backed off some and the strength is coming back.

Guest Harlan Jacobs
All my thick bar work was with a 2 3/8 " or a 3".
ChrisJames
Perhaps if you switched to a 2 inch bar for your heavy work, cleans, deadlidts , bent over rows, etc.And continue using the 21/2 for the other stuff ,you might get the best from both worlds. Best of luck anyway.
