Florian Kellersmann
This is indeed a strange match which I saw already many times before. Zaur Tsakadse is a 6 (?) times heavyweight world champion and he had nothing against John's hand control.
Magnus
Who's that @ 2:16?
G-Man
Who's that @ 2:16? I believe that is Richard Lupkes. At that level of competition, usually their bones are so well-conditioned that they could twist each others' arms into a pretzel without being put at high risk of a break. bobbrown
I am not sure who that is a 2:16 but it is not Rich Lupkes. Also realize this was back in 1990. Russia was still learning how to armwrestle and John was just playing with him. Edited January 2, 2009 by bob brown

lifesnotfair
That second match from 1994 was cool!!! I've never seen John react like that!
bobbrown
That second match from 1994 was cool!!! I've never seen John react like that! I was there that year. It was cool to see John get excited about a win.
andyfreeland
Man, just found this. In the first video it seems John has total control with the toproll and the Russan has no chance. In the second vid (4 years later) you can see that the Russan has worked on a toproll and gives John a brief toproll tug before the match (John nods and smiles at him). Then it seems John grips WAYY low with his thumb sticking straight up (un-capped) and hooks him for the match. Great strategy, now I want to see the vid after the Russan goes and works on his hook for 4 years!! LOL
