Lol999
I've got this home made thickbar barbell that I put together out of a thick 2.5" dia fence post and concreted ends. Weighs in at 70kg/154lbs and measures 166cm/5'6" long. I've cleaned and pressed before but whenever I tried the one handed lift got nowhereoff the floor. Mid workout today I gave it another try and up it went, stood fully upright, no problem On the way down I got halfway and had to steady the bar with my left hand but I put that down to a tired right thumb. I know it's not the Inch dumbell, but the length makes it awkward and it's a start. proves my grip strength is improving. Well, I'm pleased with myself Cheers, Lol Edited December 6, 2008 by Lol999
MARKR
Well done,Great lift, the length and odd shape of that bar will make it a very difficult to lift Mark
Lol999
Cheers Mark, I think the weights being so far from the grip point will increase the effective load on the hand. I'm not saying I could lift the inch but it would be a close thing. My crushing grip however is stalling at the #2 so I need to be working the closing grip strength.
