timiacobucci
Just finished a new scroll, haven't done one in a little bit now. It's not really elegant or artistic, it really wasn't meant to be though, I was just going for maximum carnage. Lots of twisting and mangling. I swear that 1/2" square all twisted around is harder to bend than 5/8" stock. It might not look like much in the picture but this thing really kicked my ass, I am gonna be covered in scratches and bruises for a while now. http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=8055

timiacobucci
I hate you I can't wait to see what you can do when you decide to scroll something Paul. I bet I could have put like 2x more coils in that sucker if I had your strength.
foxyj75
:blink "Yeah, it's not much honey; I just tied a railroad spike on a knot." :D Not much? Dude, that's awesome! I can't imagine doing something like that. Very cool.
timiacobucci
Thanks Fox, I got some better pictures today in the sun after I cleaned it up some for painting. I am always surprised at how much presentation can affect how something appears, it is almost like the actual look of the thing is secondary if you don't know how to capture it properly in a picture. Scrolls are much better in person. http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=8062 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=8063 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=8064
foxyj75
Yeah Tim, that scroll looks incredible all painted and illuminated like that. Really brings out all the angles and details. Cool!

gumpster
Just saw the new pics - looks great with the light/shadows. "Mangle 2" is my favorite. I bet placing a scrolled piece of metal in a dark room with a single light source at different angles could make for some cool images. Maybe placing the piece up on a stool or balanced on a pipe/pole standing vertical would enhance it. Anyway, great work there Tim!
timiacobucci
Thanks for the compliments guys. Gumpster, Erik Vinning had told me a while back it was almost useless trying to present these well without much short of a professional photographer, or at least very good lighting and background setup. It is weird they look cool sitting here in 3 dimensions but then it can so easily look flat and crappy when I take a picture of it.
