cberg
Im planning on finally getting a block weight tomorrow. I was wondering about what weight I should get. Currently Im lifting 65lbs on a 4" wide piece of wood. Any advice would be helpful
gerryg
I would start with a 30 pound block (half of a 60 pound hex dumbell).
ae_yogi
If you have one of those small trampolines, then I would suggest getting a 50# from a 100# dumbell, as you can deload a blockweight easily.
vikingsrule92
If you have one of those small trampolines, then I would suggest getting a 50# from a 100# dumbell, as you can deload a blockweight easily. Even if he had a small trampoline I think a 50 would be too big, you need something to do real reps with, deloading will only get you so far. If you can lift 65 on a 4" block (which is pretty damn good I'd say) then probably a 35 or 40 # hex block, so half of a 70 or 80.
barbe705
go into the store and try some out with both hands. that should give you some idea what you could do after it gets chopped. brent

cberg
finished sawing.. man that was a workout in itself. had a couple attempts on it and got a little air under it. I got pretty small hands so that extra width makes it tough. Its pretty slick so ill probly use some sandpaper on it or something this weekend to take some of that paint off. I gotta say, Ive got a lot more respect for all you blob lifters after finally trying one of these things
RPGoodfellow
Block weights are humbling for sure! With a little practice, you'll be pulling that thing in no time!
