tja
Been working on my DU technique for the past week or so and I think I got it now Went to the basement to organize some stuff and the nails started calling. After warmup decided to go for a 6 x 1/4" G8 and down it went!

tja
Congrats. I can't get any movement at all with a G8 DU. You did the G5 a while back, right? That's where I got inspired to really try DU, thanks man! You'll get it soon!

No, I've never done a G5 DU either. Maybe you're thinking of Kevin? His G5 bends got me into trying DU.

I asked something about the DU and you told to wrap it a bit deeper into the pads or something.
matthcarl
That sounds more like it. 60d's I can do Though I've noticed a different trend with guys like Foxman and David W...they seem to just wrap the very end and press inward. It seems to work for them, but I can't duplicate it.
David_wigren
Great job bending that bolt. I would not recomend the "modified DU" on G8's, with the shallow wrapping and inward motion. The G8's are very likely to snapp, and I've had it happened twice and they snapp violently. I'm afraid that the G8 just finds new ways to be a pain in the ass, so avoid the modified DU with G8's unless you cut the threads down and work on shorter G8's now that you've killed the 6". But for everything else the modified DU makes big differance. Keep it up!
tja
Thanks David! Actually I found out that the modified style works best for me. Kind of weird in the beginning, but strong once you get it. Didn't think about the threads breaking possibly though
