jdchmiel
So I think I might have some freakishly strong hands for someone who has never done any hand strength training. From online recomendations I got a CoC trainer and number 1. I was able to easily close the 1 in either hand, so I ordered a number 2, which i would not call easy, but I could rep it in my right hand, and close it a few times in the left. Then I ordered the number 3 ( kept playing with the t,1,2 in the mean time) and could not close it, but I can get it to about 1 cm apart ( just under 1/2 inch). I ordered a number 2.5 so I can usee it to help me get to the number 3. LEft hand is much weaker than right hand, can get to only nearish to parallel on the 3 with the left hand. 2.5 is still on its way. So today I decided to go to play it again sports to check out the hex barbells. I can lift a 35 lb bar by pinching the end. Is this at all useful to judge on if I could hold a larger half of a 70 lb dumbell? Is half of the 70 considers a 35 lb blob? They didnt have any used hex barbells and I did not want to spend 1.29 perr pound on them, so I picked up two 35 lb plates as i could just barely lift them pinched together with my right hand. I figure two handed movements and eventually rotations and such will get the pinch grip training started. My only thought now is the extensors.. I have only seen the rubber band expansion for traiining them. Is there anything else out there? As to teh block weight idea, I was smashing a deck apart with a sledge hammer, and I used a 2x6 as leverage to rip the posts out of the ground and it got me thinking. Somehting a simple as a 2x4xa few feet long, drill some holes along its length, and then stick a dowel in which ever hole you want and then rest a plat on top. Then you can just lift the end by pinching the 2x4 or 2x6. As you need to adjust the resistance, moved the dowel close to your hand or add / remove weight to the top of the board. Any input? build it, take pictures, and post how well or not it works?
ae_yogi
If you have a small trampoline then get a 100# dumbbell for a 50# hex head. Push down on the trampoline with the hex or bounce the hex to deload it. This way you only have to buy and cut up one dumbbell rather than having to have a progression of block weights. Otherwise my guess is that a 40-45# block weight would work.
