Guest DavidHW
[pony? or spring? I think they're called spring clamps now that I think about it] I was in my local Home Depot earlier in the week, and as I was checking out, there was this huge display with dozens of these really nice yellow and black, high-impact plastic spring clamps on sale for $0.97. Really nice heft, somewhere more than a IM Trainer, and about 40-50% the toughness of an IM No. 1. For less than a buck, the value is obvious. I got one for my wife so she can work on closing the No. 1. A little training trick I do with clamps in general for her is to have her clamp on to objects of varying thicknesses, which makes the distance to close less and less. That way, she can practice closes and holds with a reduced sweep. I think it would cool as heck to have someone build a tough gripper in the No. 3 range like a spring clamp, so that folks could train varying sweep distances simply by latching the clamp/gripper onto boards or table edges and working up to a full close. Anyway, go to your local HD and see if they've still got these things on sale. The company name is Wolfcraft. David
Jonathan McMillan
Thanks for the tip! Although I suspect most of the people here already own the #1. Jon@han
