Guest mg6680
Thanks for suggesting the rack holds French style. I only used a 2" bar but was still an excellent overall hand exercise. Ranks right up there w/wide pinching. Since I've started these "core" grip exercises the grippers have really taken a back seat. I just dont get the feeling like I've "torn it up" with the grippers as I do with the above exercises. Oh yeah, lets see a photo of a big RT lift too. Thanks again, Morgan

Nathan Say
what does french style mean?
Roark
French style deadlift was all knuckles forward, which is both palms toward legs, and was clean in one movement. This contrasted with the British manner, which allowed contact with the body on the ascent- some lifters actually resting the bar on the upper knee for a grip reposition before continuing the ascent. The French style may also have involved a thumbless grip but I have not been able to verify that aspect.
Guest mg6680
Maybe I misunderstood what the "French style" was. I grasped the bar like one would do when you do bicep curls - palms forward and thumbs over the bar. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Roark
mg6680. You had it backwards
Guest mg6680
Thanks...It seems the French style will put more stress on the thumb, which is what I'm looking for. It's easy to cheat w/the thighs though. Its amazing how fast the bar comes out of your hands when you straighten your legs. :crazy
Guest rockblaster
Thick bar work is really effective! Each exercise seems to work the hands/wrists in different ways. As far as overall grip strength goes, I feel that the thick bar is better than the grippers--although the grippers are a good supplement to thick bar training.
