A Calibration Of Many Of My Grippers

This is what I will likely bring in the 3+ range. I don't know if I will feel like calibrating anything beyond that. Also, most of these are tested for percieved difficulty pretty well. Did a few of them multiple times as well.

HG300-140 (tough one from MI comp)

Narrow Elite- 148.25 (also from MI comp)

Beast- 150 (might use one of my #3's instead)

Cert #3- 155

PDA 190- 159

Narrow SE- 162.5 (Jedd missed this at MI, Josh+Jedd got slighter easier RB300N)

"Easy" Elite- 165

Brent Barbe Elite- 167.5

"Old Black"- 172.5

Silver Elite- 180 (and 3.25+ spread)

I only have a couple grippers that might fill in gaps. My 3.5 should be in the 180 range. Some 2 pound jumps in there, but I am pretty sure about the difficulty of thos grippers. I have 3-4 more plates to calibrate, right now I think I am 11 ounces heavy or something like that.

Your cert #3 is pretty much equal to mine. :)

With that spread, the Silver Elite must be tough. Would be nice to try that. My FBBC HARD was 179 lbs with a similar spread.

Despite that we use metric system here, I've noticed that I've used to the idea of using pounds when we talk about calibrated grippers. :) I immediately get a rough idea of the gripper when I hear the RGC-poundage.

It's nice to see that the elite I had came in high. I just assumed I was weak.

New Elites are generally a bit harder than that it seems though.

I would agree, most of the new grippers I've tested are tougher. I wonder if its on purpose. I had a BBSE hit 204 recently.

I just got that Elite in January of 08 from weightlifters warehouse. I think the real problem I have with grippers is that for a long time I didn't set them deep at all. As a result I suck at setting a gripper. I was able to get it clamped but, without the clamp I wasn't close at all.

Teemu, you bring up a point I had been wondering about. You certified under the "newest rules", the Brand New Gripper Rules, correct? You got to keep your gripper? If so, pretty cool.

That's what I've been wondering...you get to keep your gripper? That is cool.

Correct, under the "newest rules" and I got to keep the gripper. Yes, it is cool, certainly a nice gripper to have. :) Edited by Teemu I
