justiceislost1988
Today I bought some 3/8" aluminum. I was told it was easier than brass. I was wondering where this stuff falls? Is it harder than a red at 7"? Is the kink the hard part? Same questions about both kinds of stock. Any information would be very appreciated. -Casey
tja
I have very limited info on these, but I've got 10mm square and round aluminum, as well as 9mm brass. I bent the 10mm square, I broke (accidentally) 10mm round, and the 9mm brass is stuck at around 2 3/4 inches... The kink on both aluminum pieces was harder than on brass, though. EDIT: 3/8" = 9.525mm so it falls right in between my aluminum/brass. Edited June 27, 2008 by tja
Paul Knight
1/2" aluminum is about like a red - maybe just a hair harder - 3/8" feels like 1/4" This stuff is fun - you can bend 1/2" stuff Makes you feel like your bending some huge piece of steel! http://www.gripboard.com/uploads/120701574...2_890_36331.jpg

justiceislost1988
Thanks Derek, that makes a lot more sense. I thought I was a total pansy cause I couldn't get it at 6". So I'm guessing brass is MUCH harder than aluminum. Thanks for the help guys.

Cool! I did not know this! learning something new everyday Derek - does the 6061 usually break? or the 6063 - which is more prone? .. thanks
