amaury
Just a few questions: - What do you think about when you see the number 3 ? - Are 35 and 45 just ordinary numbers ? - How do you most often use a sledgehammer ? - Can an old phonebook be useful or not ? - Are you standing in awe of a 60D nail ? - When you shake somebody's hands what is your first thought ? Well, i'll stop here but i could go on and on. So what are the reactions of the people around you when you inform them about your grip training ? My wife just puts up with it...except when i tell her that i think about bending nails ! Please tell me i'm not alone ! :crazy :p
Rick Walker
You are not alone. My wife thinks the same thing about me. She always tells me I should have: A: Married my squat cage and Texas Power Bar B: Married my grippers C: Married my Rottweilers I say, a man has to have hobbies and when I say, "Would you rather I spend all night at the bar and stumble home at 2 am?" She always replies, "Keep lifting!" You think telling her you think about bending stuff gets a strange response? See what she does when you put your #3 gripper under your pillow at night . That one always gets a comment or 2 about being obsessed. I have a couple things in life that I would not give up for anything- 1. Anything involving exercise (weights, grip, and cardio) 2. My Rotties I am lucky to have found a good woman that puts up with my "obsessions!" As long as I take care of her-its all good. Just be ready to deal with complaining and take it with a grain of salt! (Side note: my baby rott (8 months) just earned her Canine Good Citizen!! Next is Companion Dog.) bender
Questions I've gotten sick of. (in regards to grip training.) -(picking up any IronMind product) What is this for? -What are you doing? -and- Isn't it harder that way? -Why do you have so many nails in your desk? -You bent this? -What are you doing with a sledge? -(after bending a nail) How'd you do that? -and- Is there some trick to it? -(my all-time favorite) Why? Phrases I've gotten sick of. -Don't let the LT have it, he'll bend it. -Wow, you must be really bored. -You're crazy. People just don't understand. When a friend steps into my appartment and sees the vast expance of grip tools, block weights, sledges and mangled steel, the questions just don't stop. Truly, if it wasn't for The GripPage, I would feel a bit odd. Luckily, I now know there are other people out there who share this same passion. OldGuy
I know so much about being normal, that I can state that I am not!
Nathan Say
I think that anybody who can do something that most others can't do is 'weird' or threatening. I remember seeing one episode (& ONLY one) where a girl voted for some other girl & said it was out of respect & that she was actually scared that the tough/useful girl would make it too hard for her. As long as you do what the rest of the world does, people will think you're ok.

amaury
I have a couple things in life that I would not give up for anything- 1. Anything involving exercise (weights, grip, and cardio) Yes Rick, i sometimes wonder about it too...What would i do if my wife said : stop that f### training !Truly, if it wasn't for The GripPage, I would feel a bit odd Me too I know so much about being normal, that I can state that I am not! You're extremely perceptive about yourself...That's already something ! I think that anybody who can do something that most others can't do is 'weird' or threatening. Yes and in my opinion that's why "friends" characters (the television serie) are sympathetic (or pathetic ?): they are fully predictable. I really don't give a rat's arse, anyway!! I wish i could ! Thanks ! Train hard !
Roark
If giant cash awards, instead of personal satisfaction, came floating for out efforts, everyone would understand. Imagine the 'sense' in hitting a small ball into a small hole hundreds of yards away over a landscaped area. Makes no 'sense' at all, but it is fun for those who like it, and very rewarding for those who are best at it.
ruffhans
well men, i guess im not in this category. i have the blessing of having a wonderfull wife, who not only brags about her husband ( who is trying to close a gripper that only about 70 men have closed), but encourages to keep training. some times when we are just sitting and talkig she asks me (?)s about the grippers, this board, two men named brooklfield and kinney, and what my goals are! the other day after two weeks without a grip workout, she told me she wanted me to workout this week!! she is even going to take me out to dinner when i close the #3. if there is one thing i would not give up it is my wife!!
