Guest mg6680
Just curious how many of you experience this. I have made good progress in my first few months of "real" grip training. I suspect, like many new lifters, the gains will come fast then slow down as my training progresses. The soreness in my hands (mainly my fingers) really never seems to go away. It doesnt affect my training (at least for now) so I continue training. Is this my hands becoming "seasoned" or am I setting myself up for a fall? I was just wondering if any of you "vets" still experience this kind of soreness? Morgan
supersqueeze
Your hands will always be stiff and sore after a hard workout. Not as much as they are when you first start the specific grip work, though. They do "season" to a degree. If I soak my hands in ice-water after a workout it helps reduce the next day stiffness a lot. I soak them for 15 minutes, wait 45 minutes and then soak them again for 15 minutes. mike m. bender
In my freezer, there are two sets of imprints in the frost. One set is the icy smooth form of the backs of my wrists, the other is the exact imprint of my palms. It does wonders in preventing next-day soreness. -Lt bender
Guest mg6680
I read in an earlier post from you about the ice water. I have been doing it since and it really helps reduce the soreness in my hands.
Notus
A method that I've used to speed recovery of the hands and to lessen soreness is this: 1 Ice water X 30 seconds 2 Hot water X 60 seconds 3 Ice water X 30 seconds 4 Hot X 60 seconds 5 Ice X 30 seconds 6 Hot X 60 seconds 7 Ice X 30 seconds For the ice I'll use a bowl of ice and water and for the hot water a bucket of water as hot as I can comfortably stand. I've personally had success with this and much prefer this protocol to just using ice on my hands. You can either do it immediately after a workout or at night before you go to bed. Give it a try a see what you think. Elias
