blueparrot10
what is the [maximum-weight]-that can be loaded onto [ironmind:hardy-handshake]? how good/effective is this machine?
speedy
About a few years ago I was on the market for this very machine and I have to tell you the responses for this particular machine weren't good. It had a lot to do with hand position and what not. In short if you were to take your training past using grippers, rope and so on it was pushed to me and proven that "guillotine" machines are the best way to go. I owned one before I sold it from Sorinex but I hear the Ironmind version is just as good if not better. Hope this helps.

From what I've heard, the Hardy Handshake is WAYY to easy to cheat with accidentally. You should definitely buy a guillotine style grip machine, but I'd recommend the one from Weightlifters Warehouse MUCH more. With shipping it's about $150 cheaper. You'ra sacrificing a little bit of quality, but this is still an amazing machine that is better for the money in my opinion. As for the Grippers, I'd say RB, BB, CoC, HG. But the first 3 are pretty much all amazing, and they're ranked entirely by opinion because they're all pretty equal. HG is by far the worst of that group. speedy
I don't have hands on experience with Ironmind's product but in general their stuff is top notch BUT very expensive. With that said I used to own one from Sorinex which in it's own right is very expensive but worth the money if you make use of it. As far as grippers I tried one gripper outside of COC's and all I have to say is I will ONLY buy COC grippers!!! Also, I tend to squeeze a tennis ball throughout the day. Webster
It is easy to cheat on, intended or not. When trying to do straight reps, I need to be seated to remove body english. Straddling a bench and using it between my legs works well enough. I find it most helpful for negatives. I also use it for thumb work. Overall, I use it far less than I imagined I would when I picked one up used. Guillotine style may be more practical.
The Natural
If you are wanting a guillotine style grip machine, and you want the best for the money, I'd go with the one from Pit Bull Strongman Equipment. 115 shipping included. From what I hear, everything that Alan makes is top quality.
