Those are replicas. But still a great gripper to be owned. I am lucky to have the original one!

How hard are they, Alawadhi? Are the 'He Man' and 'Beast' about equal to the modern day elite and super elite? I think i might want to buy them.

No I'd say they are like Super Master and Grand Master, check out the Dennis Rogers site and compare the ratings to the BB poundage ratings. I'd be getting those NOW if they were Elite and SE equivalents.

The original I tried is on the par of a hard elite, maybe the low end of a 3.5. Super wide spread, maybe a #3 spring but the handles were shorter.

Hey Bob, that wouldn't happen to be the gripper at Larkin's would it? If so, then don't forget the handles are shorter and ANY sweat on your hand, even with chalk, really hinders performance.

Teemu, if these are anything like the gripper I played with at Larkin's then you'll want the hardest one Dennis is selling. I'm sure you could take one down but the lack of knurling really adds a unique challenge :)

Yeah IF these have shorter handles then it makes it a whole different game. But I figured as the ratings are the same as on BB's and these look to have normal length handles judging by the picture, they'd be like SM and GM without knurling even though the word replica is mentioned. Would be weird to call these replicas if the only difference is the lack of knurling and the originals had shorter handle length. :unsure

I don't know about the Beast and the He-man. But the original one I own (from 1964...pic in gallery) is about 2.7-2.8. It's a bit wider than average grippers ;)

Just order them! Sweet!!

I did! I ordered 2 double sets ( 4 grippers). I set for my collection

and the other set for my oldest son.

I just got them to day! I love them.

cool, how do you feel they rate, sm and gm and teemu expected? or tougher?

I would say M and SM. I like the way they feel. They have some rust on them. That will help hang on to it! HAHA :D

I think Teemu nailed it. He man = SM Beast = GM

I order 2 sets #'s 17 & 18 and both sets seem identical.

The good thing is I got my Master and Super Master grippers just 3 days

before I got the Tetting Retro Grippers so all 6 grippers are not broke in at all.

I don't have the Grand Master, but the Beast is for sure harder than the

Super Master.

The grippers look awesome and are a real challenge with the smooth handles.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got mine, both #20 one's as close to a #3 as makes no odds, the other's getting on for a #3.5

They feel really comfortable in your hand, almost organic.
