Does anybody have any information on Jowetts challenge dumbbell ? Weight, diameter and length ?

Could anybody tell me if one of the Ballereon brothers ever met the challenge? Please excuse me for any misspelllings of names.

I'd be most appreciative

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

Tony Blinn at the IFBB headquarters in Canada, recently

measured the bell for me. Ben Weider owns it.

weight 176.10 lbs, length 26", bell circ 31.25 (so bell diameter

is 9.95) handle length 4.5", handle circ 6.5" (so handle diameter is 2.07). Shot loadable and currently contains lead

pellets.

As with [almost] everything about Jowett, stories of this

bell are more exaggerated than Anna Nicole Smith's persona.

For example, he could one arm clean it cold when other

strongmen could not get it off the floor. (Wonder where THAT

story originated?).

For comparision, the handle length is midway between the Inch replicas and the Millennium bell. It outweighs the Inch by

4 lbs but is surpassed by the MB by about 50 lbs.

The Jowett bell's handle diameter is 2.07, the Inch replicas and the MB about 2.5. (original Inch is 2.38")

There is a photo at cyberpump that Tony sent to me- in

the Iron History Gallery.

You, having cleaned the Inch replica at 2.5" diameter, would

find this bell easier. :p

Oh- you mean the Baillargeon brothers, I think. If no one else posts about it, I will check on them for you, but must run along to break world records at the gym right now :D
