Roark
A word of clarification about John Wood and the Millennium bells. As many of you know, John's dad, Kim, recently bought three of them. When Kim and John brought them back to Kim's house, John picked up one at a time in this manner: The bells were in a truck, of course, and John picked up one off the tailgate of the truck held it at the 'finished deadlift' position long enough for a photo to be snapped, walked a few feet in this same position, climbed the two steps leading off the driveway up to a wooden deck, and put the bell down. Perhaps approximately 15 or so feet, many seconds, two steps climbed. Repeated the process with another bell in his other hand. As in a deadlift with barbell (even though John did not deadlift in this case) the barbell is of course touching the thighs in the completed position. In John's case the spheres of the Millennium (30" circumference) were also touching his thigh. To avoid this contact, John would have had to move the bell forward a few inches as though starting a front lateral. Not likely. There was no trick, no gimmick. The bell was not pressed forcibly against his vertical thigh as though that would make a difference anyway; as though pressing it against the vertical thigh would somehow be easier than grasping it. John has always acknowledged that he did not, indeed cannot, deadlift the Millennium INTO the position described above, BUT, if he grasps it in that position to start with, his holding power is scary. But it is brute strength, not trickery. Obviously, when walking with the bell, his thigh could not maintain contact with the bell when the involved thigh was in 'rear' step. John did not ask me to clarify this, but he's a friend, I'm proud to say, and he deserves his due.
gazza
Very Impressive, surely the Inch d/bell deadlift in each hand is possible,or not to far away for big John Wood!
