Middle finger c&p

Recommended Posts

I saw on the UK Grip page rules for the middle finger C&P. Sounded interesting so I added them in my workout. I'm going to take it very slow due to no direct individual finger lifting before.

Can anyone post what a respectable weight in this lift would be? Also anyone who does this lift, or any single finger lifting, if you have any insight that may help me get a safe respectable weight in this lift could you post your thoughts? Mike

Mike,

Be very careful with finger lifts. I've seen some good injuries, including my own when I tore my little finger resulting in a visit to the hospital and 4 stitches from the bemused doctor. That was the last time I did any individual finger lifts, and we don't include them in our contests anymore. I remember Steve Angell going over 80k on this lift.

Once again, be careful, David

Mikael,

What was the weight you lifted on those finger lifts?  More details, please!  :)

I strained both of my ring fingers in spite of using very moderate weights. I had 42 kg (92lbs) on a standard bar using overhand grip (not reversed).

Mike,

I would do a couple of sets of upright rows with a

moderate weight using the fingers in question, plus a couple

of sets of bent over rows with 60-70% of your workiing poundage

on the lift itself, again using only the fingers, this will serve

as a good warm up for your final assault and hopefully no

injuries.

Best of luck!

Woody.
