gothrik
OK...what level of bending should I be at before I can start bending horse shoes? My PR is a 5 inch blue right now DO. Are there horse shoes I can bend now? And if so where should I get shoes from? Thanks for all answers in advanced.

Tim71
The St croix ultra lites are the easiest. You can't really compare the 2 bending styles because they use totally different methods so I'd agree, buy some of the easier ones and give it a shot. If you happen to be good at pulling then you may suprise yourself but there are people who can bend the Red and can't do much with horseshoes, then there's me who could bend a Diamond classic probably when I was having a hard time with G5 bolts. Can't hurt to try. Tim
pawel r
I break 12 inch spikes by 3/8 helps me train for shoes. It's the push pull movement at the hip. It save money, horseshoes are dear. Edited October 31, 2007 by pawel r

My best DO bends are 1/4" hex,60d nails, haven't been able to finish a g5 yet.I bent a St. croix 0 to 180 the first time i tried it.I think you can get them from fbbc, unless you have a St Croix forgery near you.Hope this helps. Tim71
Charles, Have you seen Eric's latest calibration of the "FNL" or fastenal G5? 355 lbs which is the easiest on he's every tried so that one may be a new way for people to get better at G5 level bends. Might want to give those a shot. Eric's last comment in the calibration thread tells about it. I got one from John Beatty once and it was indeed noticably easier than any G5 I've ever bent. Just some info. Tim
