Easiest Deck Of Cards

I am going to do a strength demonstration at the middle school where I work next week. I planned to tear a deck of cards but the sideways stress that tearing cards places on my previously injured right middle finger (caused by a fall from the rafters) causes pain. I had to learn a new way to tear. I now tear with just the thumb and index finger of my right hand. The problem is that I am inconsistent in tearing through an entire deck of Gold Crown cards in this manner. I told my son (a student at the school) that I was just not going to do the card tearing because I do not want to fail on a feat. He said that it was one of the coolest feats so I am looking for an easy deck. In your experience, what is the easiest deck of cards to tear that can be easily found? The Gold Crowns used to be a very easy tear but they are made differently now.

BTW, the other feats that I plan to perform are:

(1)Pinch Grip Pull-Up from a 2"x8" plank hung from a pull-up bar

(2)Front Lever while hanging from the same plank with a pinch grip.

(3) One arm, one finger chin from each individual finger.

(4)Bend a 60 penney nail.

(5) Bend a long bar

(6) Hold a Dragon Flag in the bottom position with a student standing on my abs.

Brad, I personally think that Mavericks from Dollar tree are easier than new Gold Crowns. I tear with my right thumb and forefinger, I assume just as you described. Here is me ripping a deck of "Carta Mundi" brand from some Casino. These cards to me feel just like Mavericks.

Good luck, Dan

Sorry to bump in here since I have no info to add regarding the cards but...is any of this going to be captured on video? Those sound like some cool feats and some of which I've never seen - the finger chins, Dragon Flag (what is that?), and front lever while hanging from the plank...I can't even begin to picture this one in my head. :blink Sounds like a fun thing to do, good luck!

From my experience, 'made in China' cards from the Dollar Tree are the easiest anyone has ever handed me. you get two packs for a buck and you can have someone try and tear the other deck.

If anyone gives you any flack about the cards, you can pinch them :D The stuff you do on rafters is awesome :rock

Dan and Aaron- thanks for the information! I am taking my son to guitar practice in a few minutes and there is a Dollar Tree close so I will pick up some cards. I feel like a wuss asking about easier cards :( I know that I will be able to tear harder and harder decks in the future but I am still learning this new technique.

Gumpster- Our middle school has a daily television show that will cover it. I will ask if they can capture all of the feats. Here is a video of a Dragon Flag. http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=5...annel=211755171

I have a student stand on my abs in the bottom (parallel) position.

Make sure you dont accidentally get the made in malaysia cards at Dollar tree, they are identical to the china ones but much more difficult............BK

I found "Bee" playing cards to be the most grotesquely week playing cards ever. Made in China, of course.

I bought 30 packs of the Chinese Maverick playing cards at the dollar store. These are some simple cards compared to a standard deck, but the Bee’s…. It was like tearing half a pack.

Sadly, I don’t know where you can get them. I just found them on a shelf at work.
