Hi Graeme, You can take a look at my vids at: http://www.youtube.com/mvogels and Tim T's: http://www.youtube.com/timshobbies Tim is the expert here, so he will be able to explain it much better then I ever will. Just keep practicing
Stew
Graeme, I am obviously no where near Mark etc on this movement but I think your best exercise for developing the power there would be barbell squats with quite a wide stance as they hit that area pretty hard. Cunny
Thanks Mark and Stew. I take it it's just a case of practice and building strength in the area of the leg abductors
kerbjr
I am starting to get better at this myself, but when I first tried it I was extremly weak. Start with with easy spikes and gradually work up from there. I am getting closer to my thigh braced method, but it has been a struggle....I think the only way to build this is to do it a lot..........BK
David Horne
Yes, Tim is definitely King of the adductors!
Tim71
Thanks for the compliments guys! Graeme, as has been said the best thing is to just bend steel that you can bend that way and work your way up the ladder. This method works great for some and not so great for some as I've said many times. I do think it's great though to be somewhat familiar with both styles so you can make a fair decision on which is best. Sounds like you need to get familiar and comfortable with the style first with some light steel then when it feels right start working your way up. As for excercises I like using an ISO bar which I've bent to maybe 30 or 40 degrees. I like using flat steel for this (don't really know why - maybe because it doesn't flip around as easy) in a 1 inch wide by 3/8 inch by 8 inches long. Then just practice crushing it between your thighs as you torque your wrists. Also, you can take a child's air filled rubber ball and hold it between your thighs with your feet close together and act like your trying to bust it. This is a good one to work the muscles but not tear the skin up. Go easy at it at first though unless you're fond of having a hard time walking. Later, Tim
Cunny
Sounds Good thanks Tim Then just practice crushing it between your thighs as you torque your wrists. Which way do you apply the force or is it just down to preference?
gazza
Like ive told you before Graeme Isos and bending steel are the key there are no magic formulas or quick fix solutions just keep hitting the isos and bending the steel and it will all fall into place. Tim knows his stuff and guesse what he bends plenty of steel and uses isos and look were he is with the braced stuff so does that not tell you something. I like to use a similar training strategy to the great Bruce Lee daily isos for the whole body and also adapt and use what works for you and disgard the rest its that simple oh and hard work and a never give up attitude.
