No Set Challenge

I've really enjoyed many of the NO SET videos that have popped up lately! I have been focusing on NS closes in my training lately and thought it might be great fun to start a general thread where people can post their NS closes, attempts, goals, talk about progress, and any other training tips.

My blanket challege to everyone is to post your BIGGEST NO SET CLOSE. #1, #3, whatever, let's see 'em.

My current NS goal is my RB240n. I'm getting to within 1/4" and it's starting to get exciting. I'll post a progress vid next time I work out at home.

I'm also going to dig up some of the past NS closes and post some links here.

Let's see whatcha got! :rock

This #3 NS close from Patrick is one of my favorites:

(thanks, lifesnotfair!)

Wes attempted a NS in his MM1 cert vid:

Teemu has a great #3 close out there:

I was amazed with this video from maidenfan! 5 NS reps on a RB330n

Those are all great no set closes. Morgan's impresses me the most right now. Crazy no set strength. My best stuff was back in late 2005 when I was hitting the no sets pretty hard.

I'm uploading some today to YouTube. TNS Elite, #3 both hands, RB300N, Cert GM, Cert SM, and even my favorite the TNS medley. It was a #3, HG300, and some other stuff all TNS in a row.

Here's the TNS Elite and left hand #3 video:

My best NS close is a 1.5, haven't tried these in a few weeks. Just tried the #2 after seeing this thread and am 1/8" away! I suppose I have a goal now. Neat thread!

I've done a fairly tough elite no set, the last bit is a little easier than a 3.5. Left hand best is only a #3. Far as training goes the high rep no set work I've been doing has worked very well for me

Here are a few more TNS videos:

My Cert Grand Master TNS close from 2005. Felt like a medium #3.

My GM3 TNS close. Grand Elite spring with a 2.25" spread. Obviously MUCH easier than it sounds. Like a hardish #3.

Very impressive stuff by Morgan, Ben and Wes :bow

Here's my best no set so far, a customized Elite for the Tetting no set certification (http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=11225):

Currently my grip focus is not on grippers, but I will for sure mashing my little friends again in the future :rock

Hehe, that's why it's so amazing in my eyes, most TNS closes are rather slow, and most include some relocating of the thumb to get better leverage with it or something, on the last bit of the close.... Patrick just closed the gripper in what seemed like a nano-second.

Cannon: no problem mate! Thanks for mentioning it! :)

I don't know what I can No-Set, it's either my #1 or BBSA, would have to try. Suck at no-setting but lately I've been training wider sets so we'll see in the future.

Boy, there sure are alot of really strong folks here! :blush

Well, for whatever it's worth my max is #2.5 for NS (and grippers in general since I only do NS at this point), but that was a few months and a now healed injury ago... so my current NS gripper is the #2. It's tough working back to where you were before because it's easy to want to rush the process since you know you've been there (Ohhhh I'll be back #2.5, and I WILL crush you till your big brothers start to fear me... ha ha ha HA!!! :whacked )

Anyways, thought I'd ask since this thread is about this...

Does anyone else prefer NS because of the way the ROM feels for their hand? I know people are training it, but do any prefer it? Such is the case with me, just thought I'd ask while people are thinking about this...

This next one was one of my really strong days. It was the RB300N TNS and a 3 finger TNS #3 close.

Ben, At the end of the #3 close did you say "Good times. But, it hurts." ?

All, those are awesome vids. I really enjoyed watching.

TTYL,

Doug

Morgans recent video of that 330N was MASSIVELY strong, that 3 fingered one by Ben is just crazy, and Sam's #3 inverted tns was also freaking impressive.

My best was on a 2 5/8" spread GM, wasn't a very hard GM probably around a 2.7-2.8ish, no where near a #3.

The best I have on video is a MM1 no set for R and L hands-I have closed an Elite no set both hands as well since this.

Click on this link and go down a bit for the video

My best NS close to date is the BBSM (~2.8), i've come pretty close on my RB260 which is like an easy #3. The only NS close on video i've got is my GM1 cert but that was too easy to post here.

Hopefully i'll get my no.3 NS by the end of the year.

My best is an HG300 which is like a very easy 3. I have been a hair away from my narrow elite, which is close to what I think an average three is.
