Anyone Used Kta To Close A #4?

Hello, everyone. I lost my computer access for a long time (after a total of one post, I think) and haven't had much time to work on hand strength, but I'm back again. I closed a 1.5 after getting it very easily, wasn't able to get the #2 after trying it but I did get it two days later. Most of the time I can close it with either hand, so I'm glad to have gotten this far with as little time as I've been able to put into it.

My question is: Has anyone using the KTA program closed a #4 CoC? I'm probably going to try it out soon, and was wondering how far people have had success with it. I'd really like to close a #3 before starting it, but #3 is waaay out of my league, and the #2.5 is only a bit closer. I alternate most days between the #2 and the #2.5, and that seems to work okay, but KTA sounds like it's pretty effective. I'm still intending to work up to a #4 as soon as I can (though I realize that's something that can't exactly be rushed), so I'm taking my grip training pretty seriously.

Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone's training is going well. :bow

I've never used KTA, but I'm sure a lot of the training principles of KTA were borrowed from those who already closed a #4 (hence the name). Unless you're a freak, legitimately closing a #4 isnt really about a particular program, its about intestinal fortitude.

Thanks guys. I plan on sticking with it until it happens, so I'm planning on using whatever I can to accomplish it. I can only imagine how much it's going to take... if the #3 is any indication, it's going to take a hell of a lot. :whacked

KTA is a very good program. Good luck to you with your goal, but I would master the coc#3 before you even think about mashing the coc#4. The KTA program needs 3 grippers. Your goal gripper, one below your goal gripper(overcrush&strap holds), and one above your goal gripper(negatives). So eat the sandwich a little at a time, master the coc#2.5 and the coc#3 first.

I learned early on that it's really dumb to rush getting to a harder gripper before I'm ready to do it. Amazingly, I'm actually starting to get closer to the #2.5 than I've ever been (considering that it was only about 3 weeks ago that I closed the #2 for the first time, I'm really surprised.), getting down to the last quarter of an inch (give or take, it's hard to measure when I'm straining my guts out. :mosher ) now. I'm not going to push it. I'll get there when I get there. It's just important that I do get there. I never realized just how hard the #3 would be ("ONLY 280 pounds?!", lol), but it'll be awhile yet before I am ready to tackle it.
