popeye76 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 i found out today that there is a guy i work with that does alot of grip work. we talked for awhile after work about his grip workouts and mine. he says he doesn't have a workout ''schedule'' he just trains until his hands and fingers start acheing and then he takes time off until they don't ache anymore. does anybody agree with that sort of training? does anybody train that way? as for me i just train my grip hard 3 days a week. my hands have that tight, stiff feeling at the end of the week but they don't ache. after talking to him it kind of gets me thinkin i don't train enough during the week. what does everybody else think? I can't really say that that will or will not work. As long as he has his progression scheme, rest, and goals down then I don't see why not. dimmers Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I'm no expert, but i find that if my gains slow down then it's because i'm not training enough. I believe that the hands and arms can be trained more than most of the other body parts, and that it's difficult to overtrain them. I always think about the people that work with their hands for a living, whatever profession it may be i doubt they would turn down or stop work because their hands feel a bit sore. Overtime your hands will just adapt to whatever routine you subject them too, so maybe its time to try higher volume? Quote
pdfk20 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I'd like to say that i train twice a week, but this is not the reality, if my fingers are feeling good in a week i'll train maybe 3 or 4 times, if they are aching or if im feeling like i need to rest i'll take the week off.
