Rick Browne
Found out today that chrome plating of grippers, such as the Silver Elite and others, causes fatigue in the steel over time and will cause them to break. That is why they are no longer made. The silver ones that is. Sorry if I put a damper on the ones that have them. They sure are "purr-tee" though! Might be a good idea not to stress them
Nathan Say
How does that happen? the chrome on bars doesn't do anything to the bar does it? Why would grippers be any different?
stratavarious_connection
chrome springs may precipitate early spring demise...however, I am unaware any impirical evidence to support such claims. I own an Elite with a chrome spring...with cheating, this gripper has been closed well over a 1000 times ( cannot yet close it ). As far as I know, there aren't any grippers which have chrome springs that have failed ( broken ), with any regularity, sooner than black springed grippers.
