I watched them both many times. We will see some tough hook matches for sure. By the way, I think, Farid will win. The winner will face Voevoda, I guess... Florian Kellersmann Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 and they will fight also Taras Ivakin vs Michael Todd Michael is much heavier than Taras now, he will have a good chance to win I guess. But Taras' deadly toproll can surprise anybody Quote ARMS ARE FOR ARMWRESTLING "Always give your workouts cool names to fire you up!" - Devon Larratt
pawel r Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 and they will fight also Taras Ivakin vs Michael Todd will be probably Brzenk http://armpower.net/index.php?page=art&sid=884 Quote
lifesnotfair Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Brzenk vs. Taras?? Didn't he already owned him completely a few times back? In Zlotty I think? And then in a best of 6 matches they had somewhere? Not that again! Quote
bobbrown Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 John was over yesterday, Micheal has dropped out. John will pull Taras. This could be interesting. Johns wrist is bothering him. Quote "Be realistic....Demand the impossible"

Thanks for the info, Bob. I hope John has no serious problems with his wrist. John is pulling very often lately. Not much time to heal up little injuries. I hope he will take a longer break before pulling Alexey. I guess we will see some nice strap matches again against Taras. Taras has a good chance to win 1 or 2 matches, I think, if John is not 100%. bobbrown Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Bob,How much does John weigh right now? Paul, I will only answer that if you get your butt over to practice. It's still Monday nights 7pm lol lol He weighed 209 at the last Vendetta but had to sweat out about 5 pounds. He's 215-220 and eating all the ice cream in sight. bobbrown Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 (edited) John left today for Yalta. His wrist is still bothering him. Should be interesting. I have to say I have my doubts. John will have to pull with a high posting toproll to beat Taris, which he does not like to do. If he wins, I think they are going to set up Brzenk vs. Veovoda Edited June 27, 2007 by bob brown Quote "Be realistic....Demand the impossible"

lifesnotfair Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 John Brzenk beat Taras Ivakin by 4:2. I was inquiring as to how John lost the two matches, and apparently he was pinned both times, not on fouls. But inquiring further, I've heard that John lost because he tried to hook Taras, but couldn't, and Taras took hand control and won. All 4 matches that John won, they slipped and John won in straps. Like AW legend Cobra Rhodes says, "the straps tell no lies". I was curious as to what it looked to see Taras pinning John, and on armpower.net I found this pic from the event. http://www.armpower.net//news_upload/921_1.jpg Damn that looks like a tough possition to overcome! Another pic: http://www.armpower.net//news_upload/921_3.jpg John won all 4 matches in the strap with ease, it seems... http://www.armpower.net//news_upload/921_4.jpg Quote

Take Aslan Kozaev as an example - here he makes easy work of Taras Ivakin: http://www.worldofarmwrestling.com/index.p...iew&id=3328 That took place a year ago - same year that Ivakin won a VERY tough class at WAF Worlds and dominated Devon Larratt in a supermatch, if I am not mistaken. Larratt might be the top puller in North America right now given it looks like John is only at about 85-90% what he was last year. Now just look at the power of Aslan Kozaev - to do that to Ivakin is just nuts. I thought he might be the next great challenge to Brzenk after Voevoda. Boy was I wrong. There is a puller who TOTALLY DOMINATES Aslan Kozaev and most people never even heard of him. He is so powerful, according to Engin Terzi, he does not even FEEL Kozaev. His fellow countrymen speak of him with great awe. They say that NO ONE on the planet has a chance of beating him, NO ONE, except for possibly John Brzenk and Alexey Voevoda. His name is Dima Kotchiev Quote
Griparn Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I found some videos from the Europeans 2005, which he won left and right hand classes. Right handed: http://www.worldofarmwrestling.com/index.p...iew&id=3027 Left handed: http://www.worldofarmwrestling.com/index.p...iew&id=3005 For me it looks like he doesnt have so good technique, seems like he's relying more on pure strength. I guess he have improved the technique the last two years... Quote
lifesnotfair Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 G-Man: Yep, I read what Engin had to say about him, and it's not Engin's words, he says that's how the Ossetians talk about him, "with eyes wide open" as if they were talking about some freak, heh, that was actually funny... HOWEVER, you as an experienced puller must've heard this phrase much more than me: "styles make wars" ??? You know, and the endless debate of how puller A can beat B, and puller B can beat C, yet puller C can beat A ?? So, has it ever occured to you that maybe Kotchiev's style is just too effective against Kozaev and hence he doesn't feel him? But maybe he wouldn't dominate or even beat some guys that Kozaev beats? ... just a thoght. Quote

But maybe he wouldn't dominate or even beat some guys that Kozaev beats? ... just a thoght. That is very true about different styles. It's hard to tell what Kotchiev's style is as the only videos I have seen are those two, two-year old videos. I guess it is just a lot of power. The Ossetians include awesome pullers like Aslan Kozaev and Alan Karaev and yet they speak of Kotchiev like he is a God. I think Engin even said Kotchiev doesn't even do much in the way of working out - just that he is incredibly powerful. Alan Karaev http://ossetians.com/eng/news.php?newsid=2...ID=28d1156505a6 http://www.armstyle.crimea.ua/video/armvideo9.avi It's possible that other guys may beat Kotchiev but when the Ossetians themselves (who produce perhaps the greatest number of world class arm wrestlers per capita in the world) say that only Brzenk and Voevoda "have a chance of beating him" then that is saying a lot.
