Roark Posted July 30, 2002 Posted July 30, 2002 I had asked Terry Todd to secure Mark Henry's hand dimensions for my records. Terry called today to say that a seamstress measured Mark's hands and although Terry did not witness it, here are the measures which Terry will verify when he gets a chance to: Mark Henry hand length, wrist line to middle finger tip: 9-5/8" hand width when not touching anything 5.5" hand length when hand is pressed against something (such as a table) 6" The hand length would be an incredible advantage- longer than Apollon, Goerner, or Saxon. The hand width in the case of the 4" available grasping space for the Inch replica would be an disadvantage, and would probably negate some of the hand length advantage because a natural grasp could not be obtained (that's a guess). OldGuy Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 Few have a bigger hand than that. Shaquille maybe ? Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
dyoder16 Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 A bunch of years ago(had to be 6 or 8 at least), when they were touting Mark Henry as a possible olympic gold medalist they had a show all about him and his lifting and they were giving examples of his athleticism. They showed him trying to dunk a basketball, and if memory serves me right he palmed the ball easily with both hands and then ran with it to do the dunk. He actually never did get the dunk but he was very, very close on several tries. :hehe Quote
RSW Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 I just measured my hand at 8"x 3-3/4" and I am 6' 4" tall. Henry's hands are unbelievably large. I measured my hand width just below the knuckles. Is that where Henry's was measured, or does it include the thumb joint ? Quote
Roark Posted July 31, 2002 Author Posted July 31, 2002 Measure across palm width, because the thumb joint is usually on the other side of the bar and is not a width factor-hopefully that's how Mark's hand was measured, but Terry was not there. He will measure Mark's hand when he gets an opportunity. Quote http://www.ironhistory.com
paul valpreda Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 It sounds like Henry has Julius Erving sized hands! I bet Dr. J could have been a good gripper if hand size is any indicator. Quote
Sybersnott Posted August 2, 2002 Posted August 2, 2002 I was at the AOBS, and I asked Mark, "Can I measure your hands?". He said, "Measure THIS!". Then he put his big ole' paw over my face, and the room suddenly got very dark very quickly! :p Quote "I have always been strong.
