Sybersnott Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 What is going on with the newly-formed IGC?? ??? I wanted to ask Tom Black about it at the AOBS, but with all that was going on, I never got the chance. I know it's like we are beating a dead horse here... but I'd like an update as to what's going on. Thanks! Quote "I have always been strong. mobsterone Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 One beaten dead horse coming up sir Seriously, as with many things in life and those who have attended meetings will know what I'm on about, too much time is spent talking, thinking and talking some more but very little doing. I hope for 2 things in 2002 from the Grippage. One is the IGF coming of age. The is seeing a draft copy of the Grip strength Encyclopedia come on-line. I will do what I can, when I can and have started already. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
OldGuy Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 I suspect that Tom Black has been to busy with other things to do anything with the IGC. He has not kept up with his log either. Maybe he would consider handing things over to the Snott man whose enthusiasm knows no bounds. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Tom Black Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Yes, I've been busy, but there is one other major problem that everyone's forgotten. The original charter of the IGC was that we would certify closes of certified grippers. There was so much disagreement over the calibrated strengths of these grippers I don't see how we could ever do this now, and of course, PDA does not make them anymore. I wrote quite a few pages on a draft web site on how the certification would be done, all for naught. Quote Bigsteel
Guest baldy Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Hey Tom, even though the gripper thing is sorta down the tubes, there were still some other ideas brought up after you got voted in that deserve some thought. I remember that you or someone brought up the idea of an official list of people who have lifted an Inch replica. Also, some kind of standardization & listing of different pinch feats was discussed too. Maybe a list of good short steel bends & levering feats, etc. There should be plenty to work on other than grippers. Quote
