3Crusher Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Hey Kevin, When Matt Graham did the 2" bar double overhand deadlift with 540 pounds, which is absolutely mind blowing, did he use a hook grip? If I recall, I remember reading that he is about 6'7" tall, so I would assume his hands are large. Hook grip or not, this is an unbelievable lift! Thanks! Steve Weiner Quote Don't you get it? bseedot Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Hi Steve- Not to speak for Kevin, but for myself, Matt did use a hook grip for the lift. BC. Quote The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiousity.
Guest ando Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Jeez, I guess my hands are smaller than I thought: I'm six feet tall and my hands aren't nearly big enough to hook grip a 2" bar. Can everybody else hook a 2" bar? Quote
jimwylie1 Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Ando I think that you need a pretty big hand to effectively hook a 2" bar. I would assume that most people would struggle with this and you are not alone. bseedot Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 I can just touch the tip of my middle finger and the tip of my thumb together on a 2" bar. No hooking for me... BC. Quote The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiousity.
Guest ando Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Thanks... I didn't think my hands were that small. Quote

Kevin Fulton Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 Steve, Yes Brian is correct, Matt used a hook grip. He has large hands and probably the longest thumbs I have ever seen. Kevin Quote
