Nathan Say
So he's done the biggest roll I've ever heard of (315), one of the biggest farmer's walks ever (388 in each hand for 17' ) & a 500 1 arm deadlift. You'd think he'd at least be able to close a #2 if he's done all that. How has he done on grippers? Has he tried any? He doesn't mention any in his log but I was wondering if anyone has heard of him doing anything with them.
Sybersnott
So..... why don't YOU ask him, Nathan? ??? Here is a question that pops up from time to time... whether or not some strength athlete can close a gripper. "Gosh, I met Mr. X at a strength convention, he can squat 1300 pounds for reps, he can bench 900 pounds like it's nothing, he can deadlift 1000 pounds like he was picking up a piece of paper! He's 6'9", 475 pounds of pure muscle, 1 percent of bodyfat and he crushed this year's competition at the WSM, he did a movie where he lifted a huge stone that weighed 450 pounds and he could rep it one handed, and kiss a pretty girl at the same time, and he actually juggled the Inch DB at a gym I went to, he could bend steel bars between his toes, bend horseshoes with his buttcheeks, and tear thick phonebooks with just his eyelids!!". Then they add, "I gave him the Trainer, and he couldn't close it!! I wonder why......". :p :p
Nathan Say
@ Sybersnott where do I ask him?
Todd Kartchner
Nathan: Herk told me he has come within 1/8" or so of closing the #3. However, he hasn't trained the grippers much lately, but he intends to hit them hard again in the future. (I live here in Tucson and train on Mondays at the club where Herk works. Great place--two thick bars, wrist roller, grippers, pinch grip apparatus, leverage bar, etc.) --Todd Kartchner
Nathan Say
cool, I thought if he was good at a bunch of different things he'd do ok on the grippers.
