Spreading the word.

I train at a commercial gym with lots of nice potted plants and a sound system that continuously plays every song form every Rocky movie. sad, i know, but it only cost me $150 for a year.

Anyway, i'm finishing up my deadlifts this morning  and i notice a couple of guys talking. All the plates in the gym are these hexagonal, rubber covered olympic plates with holes in them that make handles. The one guy is showing the other guy how to do a squeezing exercise with the plates hanging at arms length to the side, opening & closing the fingers. I quickly joined the conversation. The guy asked if i do this particlar exercise and i explained why i dont( 45's are too light) then i darted to my truck & retreived my CoC #1 & #2. His face lit up as he mashed #1 to about 3/4 of the way closed. "where do i get one of these?", he asked all giddy like a school girl on prom night. i directed him to the proper website.

i also showed him the beauty of pinching, which is SO much easier on rubber covered plates ( they dont slip).

I felt almost evangelical.

Good for you! I've managed to rescue several people from bodybuilding, myself. One of them who used to ask about concentration curls is now asking about bent presses. It's a good thing, getting them on the right track to strength they can actually use.

girevik,

I know what you mean and I agree with useful

strength as a goal, but your illustration of using

the bent press to make the point? :)
