dyoder16
Do most people roll the bar down into their fingertips and up then curl the wrist or is it just curling the wrist up and down? I've seen people on the board talking about some really hefty numbers for wrist curls (200lbs for 6 reps) and I was wondering which way it was done. :p
Roark
In my view, the only thing that rolling the bar down the fingers adds, is danger and potential injury. The target muscle is the forearm, not the grip. I put my thumbs under the bar (with the fingers), keep the elbows closer together than the hands, elevate the butt so that the thighs are on a decline, thus providing full contraction at the top of the movement. Keep the upper arm/forearm position at less than a right angle so the biceps are bypassed. Slow movement, under control- no jerking. The thicker the bar, the less inclined you'll be to roll it down the fingers. That's a solid training method, but when you max-out for a personal record, you do not have to elevate the butt. For strength building 6 reps will do.(after some warm-up sets)
