acorn
Just had a simple question. When measuring and relaying the weight achieved in for example a rolling thunder lift or a hublifter lift where there is a device + loading pin + weight, what is the correct way to relay the weight achived? Is it only the plates, or is it the weight of the devices + the weight of the plates? I've only been measuring the weight of the plates and wanted to make sure I was doing it right for comparison to other numbers I've seen. - Aaron
acorn
Bump. Someone has to venture a guess or know this one. Or was the question just too retarded to answer? - Aaron
Dude
Never a dumb question, otherwise I'd have asked them all already. I personally never add the weight of the loading pin + devices when training unless it really matters. In competitions its added into the total weight of the lift because of records, etc... For training purposes I dont think its necessary to do that much math, especially if you suck at it like I do . The RT handle is 3lb (one of the heavier devices aside from the Little Big Horn @ 8lbs) and a IM Oly Loading Pin is 5lb for a total of 8lb. For comparative purposes I think that if you're within 8lbs of someone you're pretty darn close when matching yourself up. I would think its more of an individual thing. Some do and some don't. When relaying just add in the extra weight of the devices/pin and make a note of it.
acorn
Thanks a bunch Dude, thats exactly what I was hoping to flush out. - Aaron
AP
I always add the loading pin. I add the weight of the dumbell handle when I do dumbell lifts. I add the weight of the V-bar implement. I don't add the weight of the rolling handle, ring handle, pinch handle (unless it is 5lbs or heavier), and I don't add the weight of the jug or other thick v-bar attachements. That's just the way I add it up for myself.
Scott Styles
The only time I include the weight of the impliment is when the weights are loaded on to a barbell. I don't own a scale, so I don't know what the impliments weigh. Adding it all up would be a pain anyhow.
