The post on Sledge hammer crushing got me thinking what are good poundage’s for hammer leaver events and what has 'slim the hammer man' done in the way of feats and weights?

Scott,

Go to your local hardware store and pick out the biggest sledgehammer you can find.  Then lever it up, and hold it out straight arm over your face!!  :p

Slim can do these with a pair of 30 pounders!  Wow!!   :crazy

I was always kind of wondering if there were different exercises to do with the heavy hammer, or if there is just one thing you do with it?

A few months ago at the end of a training session Dave wheeled out his hammer levering assembly.  The set up happened to have his best weight still on the bar.  I'm not sure how much was on there, but I could only manage about a 1/4 of it!

Jim,

The weight was 32 1/2 lb on the end of a 37 1/2" shaft. I've also done 35 1/4 lb on the end of a 31" wooden shaft.

Blimy Dave isn’t there anything you’re rubbish at :)

Seriously though that’s excellent and impressive (I had a go with a 5kg hammer and nearly crowned myself at B&Q).  Are there any official or unofficial records?
