bencrush
I've heard good things about the ladder system of training lately. The only thing I haven't heard about is the rest between ladder sets. I plan on using the ladders to help me increase my Apollon's Axle Curl. I read recently about a "Battle of the Biceps" contest in which the winner curled 85 pounds for 60 reps...in one minute. From the picture I saw, the curls looked relatively strict. I plan on only using 83 pounds on my Apollon's Axle and my goal is 30 reps. Right now I can only manage 8 reps. Any advice on the ladder sets themselves would be of great help, but mainly interested in the amount of rest between sets. Thanks a lot. Bob Lipinski
If you are going mostly for endurance, I would purposefully cut the rest times short, maybe under a minute. I use ladders quite extensively with chinups and overhead presses, but tend to stay heavier and rest longer.
Roark
Time yourself curling a broom handle in good form for one minute; can you get 60 reps, which is of course one rep per second?
Sybersnott
Thanks for catching that error, Roark! :p You CAN'T do 60 reps in one minute in strict form! That's a half-second up and a half-second down 60 times!
bencrush
Thanks for the help guys. By the way, in my previous post, I believe I specified "relatively strict." That would mean not a reverse power clean. Obviously I didn't mean it was a perfectly strict curl.
