Training Frequency

Since I have been a member of this board, People have writen in wanting to know " how often and how much". ( Myself included). About 20 years ago, I had the mindset that there was no such thing as overtraining.Anyone that said so was just lazy.I was doing 30-40 sets per bodypart. Maybe it has somthing to do with age, But at 43 years old now I guess I fit the (LAZY) model. Or do I ? Maybe I was wrong ? God forbid !

My whole reason for all this crap is I have been doing a study on training frequency. I have found that for me, Training once a week on grip seems to produce the best results.Even on my gym training, I feel that once every 5 days seems to be the best. Does my age have somthing to do with it, Maybe. Or maybe all those years of killing myself in the gym could have produced better results by backing off a bit.

To sum all this nonsense up, Don't be afraid to experiment with you workouts. What works for Kinney,Horne,Ronnie Coleman, Ed Coan, or Phil Phister may not be right for you. Play with your training. Try new workouts.Keep it interesting, and you will contiue to make gains. When you get bored your training suffers.Bust your butt when you train ! But be smart about it !

             Have a good one

Harlan I think you hit the nail on the head. It's so important to experiment and find a routine that works best for you. It seems that most folks only wish to use a routine that worked for Joe Champion. Sure try his routine, but if it doesn't give you results then move on. It's such a simple concept, yet seems to be hard for the masses to understand.

Either way Harlan, your results (both grip and non-grip) speak for themselves. You obviously have found something that works for you in the last 20 years or so.
