Guest gelderbro
Hello, I tried doing a search on this topic because I was sure someone has asked before, but I did not find the answer ... so if this is a common question please forgive me for asking it again. How do I know when to get the #2 coc? I can close the #1 after some single warmups for 3 sets of 7-10 reps. Would this be enough to come close to closing the #2 right out of the box? If not, how long would it normally take to close the#2? Thanks
willardjamessloan
to answer your question to close the #2 I had to close the #1 for 25 reps.I CAN CLOSE THE #2 for10 to 14 reps depending on hand discomfort from boxing and am not near closing the #3 . However try strapholds with max weight. To bench 400 I WOULD not do 225 for 30 reps. I just do the high reps with the #2 to just change up my routine from getting boring. GOOD LUCK listen to the guys on this page they have forgotten more than I know
Guest omniexist
I would say go ahead and get the #2. As far as how long it takes to close grippers it is different for each person. But to give you an idea of how strong you may need to be to close a #2, I could do 20-30 rep's with my #1 before i could close it. I could also do around 37 pounds on strap holds with my #1. RiotGrip
Definitely get the #2, because you most likely won't be able to close it unless you train with it, especially if it is one of the new double stamped #2s that have been consistently harder than previous #2s. besides half the fun of owning a gripper is finally closing it after not being able to initially. Sybersnott
I'll go one step further. Get the #2.... and the #3. Really... if your goal is to someday close the #3 (and I'm hoping that it is), you might as well get the two grippers. And when you pull that #3 out of the package and give it a squeeze... then you'll know what you're up against!!
Guest mikebyoung
I got my #2 after I could easily do 25 reps with the #1. I was able to close the #2 after 3 workouts with it. I can only do singles with the #2, but picked up the #3 anyway. Forced closes with the #3 has definately helped my crushing strength, plus I like having my crushing goal here waiting for me. Good luck,Bro. Mike
Rick Walker
I think the consensus around here to own all the grippers T-#4 or atleast to #3. This way, you can do forced negatives, smooth outs, all that good stuff. Once you can close the #2 and you are training for the #3, you will need the #4 for negatives-so you might as well get them all. Hey, look at it this way-they make good conversation pieces Rick Walker :hehe
Guest gelderbro
I just wanted to say thanks to those who replied to my post. The consensus seems to be to get the #2. Which I am going to do anyway someday, so I might as well go ahead and get it now. Thanks again
