Goerner's finger

Roark

Recommended Posts

On May 8, 1934, in Leipzig, Germany, Hermann Goerner

is credited with the two following, one finger only, lifts:

1. Right hand swing using only forefinger (next to thumb)

   with a 132.25 lb kettlebell

2. Right hand swing using only little finger with a 110.25 lb

   kettlebell

HG was age 43 at the time. Mueller does not mention the

use of HG's thumb, so are we to conclude that his finger only

grasped the bar, or that, as in the case of one finger deadlifts,

perhaps the use of a padded ring was allowed? If no ring, then

imagine the position his little finger was in by itself!?

[see BAWLA lift descriptions at Iron History if you need

exact performance of the swing lift]
