Guest baldy
Recently on the board I have come across some new stuff I never tried. Scott E brought up David's bearhug deadlifts, I tried them, I like them (works a lot more than grip). Joe Roark suggested the idea of taking a weighted 2" vertical bar and cleaning it (sort of like an anvil, but it is different), I tried it, I like that too. Now I just read Nick talking about a movement he called the One Hand Rim Lift. I have yet to try this one but I am sure I will like it because I have done something similar before for time instead of max weight. So here is my question: Anyone got any more of these "unorthodox" grip related movements that most of us don't do? I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance for any replies. Roark
As a finish to my workout sometimes this: Those single handles that are used on lat machines are hooked together with an 'S' hook or other link. These handles must revolve. This whole setup should be no wider than shoulder width. Then raise this straight out in front of your shoulders, with straight arms, and bend your wrists inward as far as possible, with arms parallel. Now, using the forearm extensors against each other, pivot your wrists so that your hands travel as far as possible from each other. You'll actually be pivoting your wrists and your hands will be coming toward and then away from each other. To avoid shoulder and elbow involvement, I sometimes sit on a bench with my elbows against my (inner) knees so I can concentrate on wrist movement only. Charles Atlas would be proud. Guest mikebyoung
I read, in John Brookfield's book, a feat where a man carried for a mile, a coin bag weighing 30 pounds. (Sorry, I don't have the book handy and can't remember this man's name.) To get a feel for this, I put 32.5 lbs in an old pillow case and held for time. For the first minute, this seems like a breeze. After a minute and a half....I was hurting all over. I added this to my routine. After a week I am up to a pitiful 3 minutes. I call this "The Bag O' Pain"
Sybersnott
I went to the gun store and bought a 25 pound bag of lead shot (the smallest shot you can find), then get a small duffel and put the bag into it. Tie it off, and use that for pinching. It will really work your pinch grip, and you can take it anywhere!!
