Sand grabbing

Would sand grabbing be good for making the fingers tough enough to mash a potato? I thought if I worked up from sand to something like gravel, my fingertips would be tough enough & my fingers would be strong enough to mash a tater.

I wouldn't know about "sand grabbing"....

But what about working your fingers the other way?  Put your hand into the sand with your fingers together.  Push your hand all the way in, then with your hand STILL in the sand - spead your hand OUT!  You're working the muscles in your fingers the other way.  Keep doing it until you're tired, and work BOTH hands equally.

No no no, when you dig into a potato, you need tough fingertips. When grabbing a handfull as quickly as possible, I thought the fingers would get worked a lot.

I don't know about that. The GH's tips would be what I would use if this was my goal, since he used those methods to crush a potato. If you want to do the rice - sand - steel shot thing, go for it.
