Ripping

Just a curosity thing. I have never ripped a phonebook, nor tried. Just for fun I have taken to ripping magazines in half when I finish them although I have yet to quarter one. Anyone know where this falls relative to a phone book?

Of course there are a mountan of variables, but this is just gathering opinions so I'm not going to get into specifics.

saying you had a phonebook and a magazine of the same size, the magazine would be harder to tear i think.

i gotta admit that most of the magazines I rip have a matte cover. I have found Wired and those kinds easier than Muscle & Fitness and I think the matte v glossy is a huge issue there. It seems like in a lot of cases I just can't hold it tight enough to get that initial rip with a truly glossy covered magazine.

So, it sounds as though you "can't" rip a phone book. You got a college nearby? Their directories are generally similar materials to "normal" phonebooks but 3/4 inch or 1 inch in size. Good practice.

Also, tear Muscle and Fitness as many chances you get. :rock

Oh, I would, if I didn't feel compelled to buy them before I rip them.

I have always wondered how Border, Barnes & Noble or Hastings would react if I walked in and started tear their muscle mags in half. Unfortunatly, I think I have a pretty good idea.
