joehawkins
Not sure if I posted this in the right spot, but I'm gonna be doing a little Strongman fun tomorrow, and I have a 10' 2" bar, and an Olympic bar, and I'm trying to figure out a way to simulte (doesn't have to be perfect), the motion of the Conan's Wheel. Anyone have any bracing ideas? I'm gonna try for press reps, a medley, a yoke walk/farmer's walk, and I'd like to try the Conan Wheel, but if it can't be done, so be it. Steve B.
You could do a zercher walk in a large circle. I'm not sure how you could brace the end of the bar for a closer simulation.
joehawkins
Thanks. I have a bunch of sand, so I was thinking of filling something with sand, and jamming one end of the bar in, and then zercher walking. I figure that will keep the bar reasonably in place, the only thing is, I can't figure out what to put it in. It needs to be low tot he ground, but also end up heavy enough so that it doesn't get knocked over or pushed by the motion. I wish I were smarter. John Beatty
If you have a yoke, just set the yoke low & use it for the Conan's wheel.
joehawkins
John, I don't, but I can whip something up, good idea. Thanks
apttdwler
I have a yoke design on my site. You could use it a a simulated wheel, but would need shorter stabilizer pipes. You could anchor a rope to something and use it as a guide to make a walking circle, thus keeping the distance the same each time. Interesting idea, but the neighbors already think I've gone off the deep end with the yoke in the hallway, if I take it out and tie it to the light pole and go around and around I'm bound to wind up in a rubber room..... http://www.geocities.com/fightraining Edited October 26, 2005 by apttdwler
joehawkins
Ha ha, luckily I train the the backyard, so no one really sees. If I can work up to car pulling, different story. My wife was looking out the window while I was doing a sandbag/sled pull medley, and she was cracking up, said I looked ridiculous. Ridiculously strong, maybe!
