handgripperdad
I received MM3 today, now we just need to coordinate a time.
Bill Piche
The video is the key element. The don't's: Don't shoot so you can't see the set clearly at parallel. Don't shoot so you can't see the handles CLEARLY together in a close up position so a clear still must be taken from the video for the cert to count. Don't take the video at a distance. Otherwise the first two won't be possible regardless. Make the athlete take all 3 attempts. The gripper must stay on camera between attempts or it invalidates the cert. These are key points for everyone doing these certs. I figure the more I post these key points the more it will become ingrained in board members. handgripperdad
Kevin's MM3 cert went down today. It all happened very quickly. Both Kevin and I think he had it closed. I'm going to have to put this in the judges hands.
Bill Piche
It's now off to the judges. Did he take 3 attempts? Only one is on the video.
Bill Piche
The attempt is ruled "not good" by the judges. It was unanimous among the judges as all gave it a red. Specific reasons: They could not tell if the handles were closed. Even when trying to blow it up (video was taken too far away and dark). A clear still clearly showing the handles touching from the video could also not be captured. Great attempt Kevin. The MMG3 gripper is a beast. pdoire
I have always said that video is almost as much as the closing of the gripper. You must pay so much attention to the angles and lighting and distance that it is very distracting. I bet if there was no camera that had to capture a still shot from the video he would have closed it no sweat!!
