Justin Reagan
I bought a 5 lb box of TT's, an 8 ft. length of 3/8" aluminum, and 3 new horseshoes(a little over $1 a shoe). Well, I tried the smallest and thinnest (I think it was labeled as "00") of the shoes. I don't think I even put the slightest bend in it. I guess I'll see if I can eventually find some of those aluminum ones everybody talks about. Justin Reagan

Anyone else experience this with aluminum?
EricMilfeld
Yeh, I tried one aluminum, and sure enough, it broke no sooner than it started to bend.
AP
New horseshoes are a bitch, I can get them about halfway bent. With horsehoes you usually can either bend them quite a bit or not at all - they're not like straight steel where you can usually get a kink even if you're far from being able to finish it. Used shoes are a lot of fun though. Edited September 11, 2005 by AP
Justin Reagan
I'm going to try to find some used shoes. It doesn't look like I'll be bending these new ones for a while. Justin Reagan
Dude
Can anyone explain how to bend them? Do you just straighten them or do you try to bend them into the heart shape, etc...
carusom1
Can anyone explain how to bend them? Do you just straighten them or do you try to bend them into the heart shape, etc... ← Dude- I had no clue how to bend them until I watched Pat do it in 336POF. It still toke me a while to figure it out though. Best thing I can tell you besides watching someone do it, is to find a way to brace the closed end of the U againist your body by pushing with one hand and pulling with the other. try it out and let us know how you do? Be creative and figure it out.
Dude
I'm gonna first see if I can get my hands on some horseshoes and try that. If I can't get it maybe I'll look into getting that 336 dvd. I figured there would be a webste on how to do it or at least pictures but I've yet to find anything. What I really need to find is a video of it. AP
Yeah, grab the ends, brace the shoe on your upper thigh, and try to spread the shoe into an "S" shape. If you can get the shoe to open up you're pretty much halfway there.

carusom1
http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...cmd=si&img=1878 ← the way Dan does this, is almost unbraced! this takes more wrist strength than pushing it into your thigh I would start by trying to brace it on your leg, that would be easiest way to feel how it bends
Dude
http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?act=mod...cmd=si&img=1878 ← Grrreeeat find, finally a video. Now just to grab some horseshoes. Do all of them snap when they're bent like the one Dan did? Whats the easiest shoe to bend?
