Mikael Siversson
A fair number of you on the board will compete in the GGC 2005 competition in which v-bar is going to be one of the events. A common problem in vertical bar lifting is the formation of blisters which usually rip open on the next lift after they have formed. Any further lifting should not be allowed for safety reasons. Bleeding will start very soon if further lifts are attempted after a blister has opened up. A simple but effective way to minimize the risk of blister formation is to work out in practise who many singles your hand can take with the bar in an optimal position before blisters form. Keep that number in mind on competition day and work your way up in weights during warmup placing the bar further up or further down in the palm so that you save the skin in the best spot in your hand for the few lifts that count. the swiss
interesting post Mikael. I like the warmup with different grip idea, although I am afraid that it might get me out of the groove for the hard lifts. skin is definately the problem on this lift. I have stopped training the lift now to get my skin nice and even for the euro.
