Guest woody36
For Guys in the UK interested in book tearing and needing a good starting out level to begin with, look no further than your local branch of "Argos" or "Index" catalogue shops. Usually in the entrance of these shops they have free catalogues usually about 1"inch in thickness, take 2 or 3 from each shop at the weekend and you've got something to practise your technique on and start you out. I'm sure the USA has something similar.
Guest baldy
Woody, I found something similar here (US). My wife likes to look at what homes are being sold in our area. She picks up those free real estate catalogs at Wal Mart and like places. They are usually 80 - 120 pages (glossy), sounds similar to what you mentioned. I have tried to tear them when she is done looking at them, but I haven't done too well with it yet.
jimwylie1
I suggest getting hold of your Mrs' IKEA catalogue and tearing that into as many pieces as possible - It'll save you a fortune in the long run by the look of my latest credit card bill.
